Job summary

As a Consultant / Manager in adelphi’s Finance programme, your role is to support our project for international financial institutions (IFIs) and commercial banks in the successful implementation of sustainable finance strategies and programmes. Projects may include the development of climate action strategies, the implementation of credit lines for energy efficiency or renewable energy financing, the management of financing facilities that support clean-tech or biodiversity investments, and consulting on financial tools and products focusing on resource efficiency or circular economy.

Work location is partly remotely or at easily accessible offices in Berlin (preferred), Madrid or Munich.

The position is initially limited to 2 years. If the cooperation is successful, we will have a strong interest to transform it into a permanent position.

Your tasks

    Depending on your background and expertise, responsibilities may include the following:

  • Conceptual design, development, and implementation of targeted and impactful expert support services, materials, trainings, and tools for financial institutions
  • Management of international projects including contract, budget, and deliverable management
  • Delivery of high-quality expert advice regarding sustainable finance processes and tools, financial product development and market assessments, sustainable project and loan pipeline development, or the development of capacities for sustainable financing
  • Coordination of internal and external teams of consultants and colleagues
  • Regular exchange with clients such as IFIs and commercial banks
  • Quality assurance and compliance with project terms
  • Further, as a colleague in our Finance Programme, you contribute to the strategic orientation and further development of our sustainable finance services; you manage and write successful proposals and participate in other business development activities; you guide and advise junior team members; and you exchange with your colleagues on a regular basis to continuously advance our team’s expertise, quality of services, and team spirit.

Your qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in the field of sustainable finance with a strong focus on project management and consulting
  • A university degree (or similar qualification)
  • Initial work experience in one or several thematic areas of sustainable finance, such as EU Taxonomy, TCFD, NFRD/CSRD, SFDR, climate risk assessment (for financial institutions)
  • Commitment to and sincere interest in sustainable finance, high motivation to advance national and international sustainable finance agendas in direct collaboration with international and national financial institutions, including commercial banks
  • Good overview of recent sustainable finance trends and initiatives
  • Experience in acquisition, development and implementation of consulting projects
  • Ability to oversee various activities at once ensuring timely and successful implementation
  • A solution-, client-, and quality-oriented approach to work
  • Creative team player with strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as attention to detail
  • Interest in a long-term collaboration in a dynamically working and growing team
  • Excellent oral and written expression in English
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programmes
  • Desired

  • Excellent oral and written expression in French or Spanish
  • Excellent oral and written expression in German and/or additional foreign language skills (e.g. Portuguese)
  • Experience in working for the financial sector either as consultant or directly is a strong plus
  • Experience in the design and implementation of technical assistance/expert support for sustainability credit lines
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and running trainings and in the design of training measures
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to project countries for short-term stays
